Since the military conflict between the Global Offensive Force and the Kryo Genetic Group erupted in Mahlwinkel, numerous casualties have occurred among the local population. Residents who refused to flee the conflict have formed a militia to defend their families and homeland. Initially, the establishment of the Kryo Genetic Group seemed to be a blessing for the region. The economy flourished, and numerous jobs were created in the research facilities and laboratories. Occasionally, "incidents" occurred within the facilities, and even employees disappeared without a trace. However, overall, the population benefited from the upswing.

When the GOF's military operation against the KGG's research facilities began, the civilian population rallied. The militia is composed of workers, teachers, and craftsmen. Although only a few can show military training, the militia is by no means to be underestimated. They benefit from their knowledge of the terrain and their ingenuity. They were even able to capture a large number of weapons and tactical equipment by attacking supply convoys of both the GOF and the KGG.

However, there is a dilemma within the militia as to which side it should take. In the past, both GOF units and KGG facilities have been attacked.
