Chernobyl Scientist Operation

Scientists

Scientists don't seek power – they seek answers.

If you join them, you'll delve deep into the secrets of the Zone. Research, analysis, and understanding are paramount for you – but knowledge in the Zone is just as dangerous as any weapon.

Knowledge is Power – The Scientists of the Zone

The Scientists are a neutral faction within the Zone. While others fight for power, resources, or control, you pursue a different goal: You want to understand what the Zone truly is – and what possibilities lie hidden within it.

Your focus is on research and knowledge. You investigate the effects of radiation, analyze anomalies, and deal with phenomena that would long be considered impossible outside the Zone. Antigravity, genetic mutations, and entirely new energy sources are not theories for you, but real fields of research.

A central part of your work is the study of artifacts and mutations. You collect samples, document changes, and try to gain usable insights from the dangerous properties of the Zone. Every discovery can be a breakthrough – or a disaster.

But your task is not limited to research alone. You are also responsible for medical care within the Zone. The wounded, irradiated, or sick turn to you when they need help. Your knowledge can save lives – or determine who can still be saved at all.

Your operational base is the heart of your work. Equipped with scientific instruments, laboratories, and analysis tools, it offers you the opportunity to evaluate and further develop your findings. At the same time, it is a valuable target – and accordingly protected. Your security service ensures that you can continue your work, even if the Zone itself does everything to stop you.

Because your research does not go unnoticed. There is great global interest in the results of your work. Governments, corporations, and other powerful players have an eye on you – and not infrequently have brought their own interests into your ranks. Resources, funding, and influence rarely come without a quid pro quo.

This means for you: You never work completely independently. Behind every discovery, there could be larger plans. Behind every decision, there could be more than you initially realize.

If you choose this path, you must be prepared to take risks – not only due to the dangers of the Zone, but also due to the knowledge itself.

Because in the Zone, one thing is true:
The more you understand, the more dangerous it becomes.

Prologue

"Have you heard about the new scientific expedition to the Zone? Technically, they're environmental researchers and doctors, but that's just on paper. Sure, they have some four-eyed scientists and medics, but each of these experts has their own personal reasons for coming to the Zone. A look at their security detail tells us they've only brought the most experienced fighters this time. And before I forget, rumor has it they have no guidelines to follow." - Conversation in a Stalker bar

The collapse of the Union in the nineties did not hinder scientific work. On the contrary, the weakened governments were unable to investigate, let alone stop, rumors of strange experiments in the Zone. Although many projects were discontinued, several project leaders did not want to give up their research and continued their work in various laboratories. The scientists focused their research on topics such as the influence of psychological manipulation on humans and the investigation of induced mutations using emitters, psychic radiation, as well as large-scale character mutations and changes.

In the meantime, a special international commission was convened to investigate reports of strange incidents, organ trafficking, and illegal activities by scientists and doctors. The investigation was able to confirm some claims, but no action was taken for the time being. However, the resident national research institute ceased its work later that year due to domestic political pressure.

In return, a new scientific group was created under the leadership of researcher Dr. Pyotr Ivanoff, an experienced field leader. This group procured equipment and funds for the scientists to continue experiments that would not have been available otherwise.

Over the years, science heavily relied on the work of Stalkers and other volunteers to carry out its fieldwork. Coupled with their weak firearms skills, scientists and medics tended not to pose a major threat to anyone, so the faction depended on protection from Stalkers looking for work or duty.

A split occurred among the members of the research team. This led to about half of the scientists leaving the group so as not to be associated with the failed experiment. The group eventually disbanded when it addressed the issue of dealing with the aftermath.

Former scientists from this group have been tasked with exploring the Zone and finding a way to remove the breach or at least contain its consequences. Since then, they have been trying to find a way to control the Zone's biosphere. For defense, the scientists created a security service to protect the faction and their research complex from the threats of the Zone, such as intruders and mutations.

Science consists of the following three departments:

  • Department of Free Research (Prof. Dr. Frederik Kerenski)
  • Department of Experimental Medicine (Dr. med. Alicija Ivanova)
  • Department of Security-Related Technologies (Commander Victor Wolkow)

Together, the three department heads form the Presidential Council and lead the Science faction.
However, the faction still relies on Stalkers to collect mutated body parts and artifacts for them, pays for every usable item brought to the researchers in their research complex, and hires them as escorts. In addition, they have a selection of medicines, modifications, and more for those who work for them.

Scientists

Dress code

The dress code is science-oriented. As scientists, you are strongly oriented towards the LARP game, so players have many design options. Nevertheless, your clothing should clearly distinguish you from other factions, meaning no uniforms or camouflage colors. Options include:

  • Protective suit and gas masks (for fieldwork)
  • Shirt, sleeveless sweater, turtleneck (for our theoreticians, patterned or colorful)
  • Lab coat or doctor's coat (for researchers or medical personnel)

Scientists' Security Service

Attention: For the security service, a regular scientist ticket is required. To be selected for the security service, prior application and approval by the organization team are necessary. Please contact us via our Discord server before purchasing your ticket: https://discord.gg/ZCnAE28N4Y

The equipment and clothing of the security service are clearly tactically oriented. For reasons of uniformity and to avoid confusion during outdoor operations, only a black color scheme is permitted for the uniform!

  • Cargo pants, functional top, or field shirt
  • Combat boots, hiking boots (keep them as dark as possible)
  • Optionally: beanie, cap, beret, or helmet
  • Optionally: tactical belt, Molle system, or plate carrier
  • Due to the multinational background, all types of airsoft weapons and attachments are permitted for the security service!

Zone residents / Mutants

Due to the influence of radiation, artifacts, and anomalies, some inhabitants of the Zone have mutated. The causes for this have not yet been conclusively determined.

The portion of mutants who largely retained their consciousness have built a new civilian life within the Zone. Since there have been incidents with mutants in the past, the inhabitants of the Zone have decided that mutants will be allowed a civilian life in the village near the Scientist HQ under the supervision of the scientists.

The "Mutants" faction is aimed at all role-players who wish to experience the event unarmed. Do you have your own ideas and want to open a casino, earn quick money as an information broker, or provide assistance to the inhabitants of the Zone as a priest?

Or do you want to find out more about the history of mutants through your leaders, together with the scientists? Then this is exactly the right place for you!

The premises of the Scientist HQ (known as the Militia Village) offer numerous opportunities for this.

Dress code

Civilian appearance, preferably "tattered", as well as visible mutation. This could be represented by a small growth on the cheek, a hump, or additional limbs. We kindly request an appropriate authenticity, based on the STALKER series.

IMPORTANT!

Before purchasing a mutant ticket, please contact the game management at spielleitung@airsofthelden.de to discuss in advance whether the planned role fits the scenario and to avoid any possible double casting.

Prof. Dr. Med. Vet. Yuri Polowski

Kommandant Victor Wolkow

Prof. Dr. Fred Kerski, born Frederik Kerenski (Russian: Фредерик Керенски) in Moscow, comes from a privileged background and remains intertwined with the highest political echelons in the capital to this day. His parents, a family stemming from the Soviet oligarchy and Kerenski's greatest patrons, used their wealth and political influence to ensure their son received an excellent education and provided him with all financial support. In his youth, Kerenski attended one of the capital's most renowned elite boarding schools and had a reputation for always being an exemplary student and an exceptional talent. His encouragement and interest allowed him to graduate in technical physics with a perfect GPA of 1.0. He then went on to earn his doctorate and wrote two dissertations focusing on "Electromagnetic Compatibility of Frequencies on High Voltage" and "Capacitive Coupling Paths in System-Internal Radiation Propagation." He invested his family inheritance in funding programs for research and development, which brought him national recognition. He received further acclaim as a renowned scientist for his self-funded projects. With his research teams, he never shied away from the spotlight, so he was eventually approached to lead a new international research team due to his prominence and professional qualifications. This presented him with the opportunity to prove himself on an international level.

Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Aleksei Mikhailov
